The vBoxxVault web vault provides the richest experience for individual users and organizations. Many essential features, such as setting up two-step authentication or managing an organization, need to be performed from the web vault.
When you first log in to your web vault, you will land in the Vaults view. In this space, all vault items are listed, including logins, cards, identities, and secure notes.
Create a Folder
To create a new folder:
- Select New and choose Folder from the dropdown.
- Enter a name for your folder (for example, Social Media Logins) and select Save.
Add a Login
To add a new login item:
- Select New and choose Item from the dropdown.
- Select Login in the dropdown (if you are adding a card, identity, or secure note instead, select that option).
- Enter a Name for the item. Names help you easily identify items in your vault, so give this item a recognizable name (for example, My vBoxxCloud Account).
- Enter your Username and Password. For now, enter your existing password. We will help you replace the password with a stronger one later.
- In the URL 1 field, enter the URL where you log in to the account (for example, https://web.vboxx.nl/auth/login). If you don't know which URL to use, navigate to the website's login screen and copy it from your address bar.
- If desired, select the name of the folder to which you want to add this item from the Folder dropdown (for example, the folder vBoxx Accounts we created earlier).
- Good job! Select the Save button to complete adding this item.
Generate a Strong Password
Now that a new login is stored in your vault, you can enhance its security by replacing the existing password with a stronger one:
- In your vault, select the item you want to secure.
- In a new tab or window, open the associated website and log in to your account.
Tip: If you entered something in the URI 1 field, click on the square with an arrow pointing outward Launch to open it directly from your vault.
- Navigate on that website to the area where you can change your password.
- For most websites, you'll need to enter your Current Password first. Return to your vault and select the Copy icon next to the Password field. Then, return to the website and paste it into the Current Password field. You may have memorized the old password, but it's a good idea to make it a habit to copy and paste your password. This way, you'll log in as soon as your password is replaced with a stronger one.
- Return to your vault and click on the Generate icon next to the Password field. You will be asked if you want to overwrite the current password, so select Yes to proceed. This will replace your password with a randomly generated strong password. Switching from a password like Password123 to 8uLzkqH4AKK7u#YU can thwart a hacker.
- Copy your new password with the same Copy icon you used earlier and select the Save button.
- Go back to the other website and paste your strong password into the New Password and Confirm New Password fields.
- Once you've Saved the password change, you're done!
Secure Your Vault with 2FA
Now that your vault is full of data, we'll take some steps to protect it by setting up two-step authentication. For two-step authentication, you need to verify your identity when logging in with an additional token, usually obtained from another device.
There are many methods available for two-step authentication, but the recommended method is to use an authenticator app for mobile devices. If you prefer to use another method, that's perfectly fine.
- In your Web Vault, select the profile icon and choose Account Settings from the dropdown menu:
- In the Account Settings menu, go to the Security page and the Two-Step Login tab.
- Locate the Authenticator App option and select Manage:
You will be asked to enter your master password to proceed.
- Open the authenticator app on your mobile device and tap on + Add Account.
- Scan the QR code in your web vault with the app. After scanning, a six-digit verification code will be displayed.
- Enter the six-digit verification code in the dialog box of your web vault and select the Enable button.
Recovery Code
A recovery code provides access to your account in case you can no longer use two-step authentication. Here's how you can use it:
- Select the Show Recovery Code button.
- Your recovery code can be used if you lose your mobile device. This is a crucial step to ensure you never get locked out of your vault, so don't skip this step!
- Enter your Master Password and select the Continue button to retrieve your recovery code.
